Salt Lake City, UT - July 8, 2010
Infopia’s commitment to the success of Motors Sellers is evident from the range of products and services that it has developed to deliver eBay listing efficiencies and savings through an easy to use workflow. With the complexities of data management in mind, products and services have ease-of-use and long-term maintainability as core to the design philosophy. Within two weeks of release, over 70% of Infopia online retailers selling in the Motors category were utilizing eBay parts compatibility functionality, reflecting the priority Sellers placed on adoption of this new capability for their success in the eBay Motors channel.
“Working in tight partnership with eBay development, we identified a robust range of solutions to meet extensive short and longer-term Parts Compatibility requirements from the get-go,” said Tim Jarvis, Infopia Chief Technology Officer. “It is clear that the architecture of our Parts Compatibility solutions will be utilized for product extensions in the Motors category, and will be the foundation of additional extensions we anticipate will be required in other categories, as well.”
The products provide several efficient methods by which a Seller may take advantage of the enhanced search results and listing cost savings of parts compatibility. Sellers may select a setting to automatically utilize the eBay product ID (EPID) by searching the parts compatibility catalog by manufacturer and manufacturer ID. As EPIDs change, the new EPID is found and utilized, without additional effort. Sellers may choose to assign year/make/model/engine/trim manually, leveraging unique capabilities such as a “similar to brand name part” search to pull valid fitments from the eBay catalog for generic parts based on manufacturer or brand, or automatic generation of listings containing eBay’s maximum allowed fitments. Infopia also supports parts specification via custom item specifics for products in categories such as tires and wheels.
“As an Infopia customer, Xcesse’s Octane Auto Supply eCommerce auto parts business worked closely with Infopia on the development of Infopia’s support for eBay Motors Parts and Accessories parts compatibility functionality,” said Malcolm Davidow, President. “Using Infopia’s Jump-Start EPID matching service, as well as Infopia’s best-in-class support for manual compatibility, Octane was able to get compatibility-enabled listings up faster and looks forward to improved eBay search results and conversion.”
Professional Services are available for both Infopia and non-Infopia Sellers. Any online retailer can provide a formatted file of manufacturer or brand and manufacturer part number, and Infopia will generate a matched EPID result for all products in the eBay parts compatibility catalog. The service is available on a one-time ‘Jump Start’ or on-going ‘Tune-Up’ basis. Services for bulk compatibility matching for generic parts are also available for use on eBay Motors.
