Keeping Up With The Times
I’m sitting down to write this at the same time we’re getting ready for another one of our regular meetings with eBay. We’ll be talking to them about joint marketing, product investments, beta programs, product visions and recent product enhancements on both sides. They’ll give us updates on what’s coming up later this year and we’ll update them on new and unique features we’ll be adding soon that will benefit a number of their major sellers. It’s no surprise that eBay has made recent changes to its fee structure, and it won’t be the last change. As the old adage goes, “Change is inevitable – and if you don’t respond to change by planning ahead for a new change then your change will be examined by a smart, and sometimes slippery competitor, and re-spun back to the market and you’ll be sorry you didn’t change again.” Okay, I added that last part but it does seem to give the old adage more up-do-date feel.
It’s an interesting time of year. With Amazon talking to us about cross-selling services and new Infopia customers coming on-board, we’re constantly reminded that the pace of innovation never ceases and that the key to success is not to resist change, but to plan ahead and be right when you change. At Infopia, we’ll continue to invest in our valuable partnerships and in technologies that will give you the greatest returns for your dollar – we’ll even introduce features that take you beyond the obvious and will guide you to make the best business decisions (and possibly make changes for you) that will give you the greatest returns.
This month we will debut new features and workflows that resulted from our efforts in the 4th quarter to streamline and improve our technology base. This will include improvements that you will likely never see with your own eyes but that will benefit you indirectly because there are substantial improvements in logic flows, and technology design that will pay big benefits to you in the long run.
The bottom-line is, there was a lot of change that took place in 2009 and the lesson learned is we need to pay attention to what is important. It is more critical than ever to plan ahead and invest in change.
What do you think about change? I welcome your feedback and ideas – cbarney@infopia.com.
