Upcoming Initiatives

We’ve enjoyed working closely with eBay on a host of new initiatives over the past several months. More importantly, our people have been able to take the specifications from eBay and add a significant level of value to our work product that takes the original requirements a step beyond what was expected.

We’ll be introducing several new capabilities over the coming months that will take our eBay services above and beyond what you’ll find coming from other eBay integrators.

Below is a taste of what we’re doing in the automotive sector. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.

As always, let me know what you’re thinking. I can be reached at cbarney@infopia.com.

eBay Price Change/Subscription Change – Time to Take Action!

Important! eBay Price Change/ Subscription Change

eBay announced a price change that goes into effect on March 30. It is important to take the time now to evaluate the subscriptions and prices eBay is offering, and select the you that is optimal for your business.

1. Decide which eBay store subscription you want. The following link will bring you to a calculator which will help you select most cost effective approach based on the profile of your business. http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/FeeIllustrator2010.html

2. Decide which listings you wish to keep active, and which you want to end based on the performance of the listings.

  • For eBay Store listings you want to keep active, you do not need to change anything at this time. You are able to post using schedules assigned to eBay Store from Transact. Listings will post as “fixed price” instead of “stores fixed price.”
  • For eBay Store listings you want to end and not list again
    • Assure no new listings are posted by: deactivate/delete listings profile, ad factory or custom schedules, depending on how you are now using our system
    • Then, close the listings from transact listings report (ones you know for sure it will not be relisted from a. above)

The full communication from eBay can be found at:
http://announcements.ebay.com/2010/03/reminder-spring-price-change-coming-march-30-make-sure-youre-ready-to-get-the-lowest-fees/

In early 2011, anything posted as “Stores Fixed Price” will fail (in other words, will not automatically be assigned to “fixed price” by eBay). We recommend that you’ll want to plan to migrate all your “Stores Fixed Price” listings to “Fixed Price” listings by 8/31, so that you are not dealing with a change during the holiday season.

eBay Motors Parts Compatibility (Fitment)

The Infopia Parts Compatibility solution for eBay Motors has been designed to emphasize both ease of management and long-term maintainability. The Transact-based product offering, coupled with Motors Professional Services, accelerates your ability to take advantage of the benefits of enhanced search results that come with Parts Compatibility utilization. Thanks to the design of Transact, Infopia is ready now for eBay Motors sellers who wish to participate in eBay’s Parts Compatibility catalogue-based beta programs. Infopia will support the first categories as eBay rolls them out:

• Lighting, Lamps & Accessories
• Exterior
• Air Intake & Fuel Deliver
• Tires & Wheels

As additional categories become catalogue-enabled by eBay, Transact has been designed to support them.

Infopia delivers a solution that goes well beyond basic matching of existing parts with parts in the eBay Parts Compatibility catalogue. Infopia will also support the ability to match unbranded parts to branded parts which are already in the catalogue, significantly increasing catalogue utilization. Sellers will identify the unbranded part and a similar branded part they designate, then search the catalogue for compatibility and the auto-populate the fitments for listings. Sellers with ACES/AAIA data already available will also benefit from the use of a decoder, which will match ACES/AAIA XML to the eBay standard, and populate fitment data behind the scenes.

Of course, Infopia also supports parts specification via item specifics, which is essential for parts such as tires and rims that are dependent on specifications, as well as for parts not found in the eBay Parts Compatibility catalogue. Infopia will also support “Manual Fitment” based on the ability to search by Manufacturer, Part Number, and UPC, matching to “Year,” Make,” and “Model,” and will begin this beta in early April.

With such a significant enhancement to Motors selling for eBay, Sellers may choose to leverage Infopia’s Data-oriented Professional Services team. Services include optimization of listing titles and descriptions for catalogue-enabled categories and data mapping.
